STOP! SECURE! REFORM! CONNECTICUT’S REFUGEE AND IMMIGRATION POLICIES

Petition by Lori Hopkins-Cavanagh – American Liberty Center

WE SAY YES TO PROTECT OUR OPEN AND FREE SOCIETY! A SECURE BORDER IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO. WE MUST NOT BE CONSUMED BY POLITICAL CORRECTNESS. PRESIDENT OBAMA, GOVERNOR MALLOY AND SENATORS MURPHY AND BLUMENTHAL ARE NOT LISTENING TO THE VOICES OF 88% OF CONNECTICUT RESIDENTS WHO DISAPPROVE OF THE REFUGEE AND IMMIGRATION POLICIES THAT ENDANGER OUR LIVES.  They refuse to join the majority of states across the country objecting to the president’s relocation of refugees and to the influx of immigrants into the U.S. from hotbeds of terror across the globe.

There are currently over 1440 signatures and 650 comments on our petition: Stop! Secure! Reform! Connecticut’s Refugee and Immigration Policies. Please sign and distribute to everyone, everywhere because what happens in Connecticut does not stay in Connecticut.  We want President Obama, Governor Malloy and Senators Murphy and Blumenthal to stop gambling with our lives and to protect all of us.

Petition Background

The mass murders in Paris following the bombing of the Russian jetliner before the deadly attack in Mali and as a peaceful city in Brussels is locked down, are the most recent examples of horrific terrorist acts that have occurred across the world and here at home since 9-11; when 19 Islamic militants, living in the United States, viciously attacked our country.  Have we forgotten the terror, loss of life and loss of liberty caused by that act of war?

The 9-11 attacks claimed the lives of 2,296 people and harmed thousands more who continue to suffer physically from the aftermath. Yet the war continues to this day with the loss of hundreds of thousands of innocent lives across the globe. The names have changed but the barbaric, totalitarian ideology that is fueling, funding and furthering terror is growing strong. With the ultimate goal of destroying Western civilization, our freedoms and liberties – they are steadfast.

The war we are fighting against the Islamic States, is here, now. We witnessed the traitorous acts against our country at Fort Hood and in the Boston Marathon bombing. It is a war unlike any other, as the Islamic States is a global network of countries, organizations and individuals, who are funding and working to further their totalitarian cause – both diplomatically and militarily. Their money is lining the pockets of our politicians and our institutions, their influence controlling the United Nations, and their militant message is reaching millions of jihadi sympathizers.

Our immigration, naturalization and refugee systems are seriously broken. Few understand how they operate. Drug kingpins, human traffickers and Islamic Jihadists are counting on President Obama and Governors like Malloy to provide sanctuary, aid and comfort. They are counting on Senators like Blumenthal and Murphy to fight for their cause, weaken our defenses and fast track their mission.

An urgent change in border security is necessary to protect our country from the cruel and collective threat of terrorism, from drug cartels pushing heroin in our cities and from economic ruin.

Our Statue of Liberty has been a symbol of our country’s compassionate, welcoming and open society, and the liberties and freedoms that generations of immigrants have sought. Those who have come to assimilate, enrich our culture and embrace our constitution and laws should not be confused with those that wish to fundamentally change our country and destroy our laws and liberties.

On Friday, November 13, 2015, the Islamic States attacked France, the great country that gifted us with the Statue of Liberty. While compassion and caring for the pain and suffering of refugees represents the values of all Americans, we must demand our government to take immediate action to protect our country, first. Until the war is over and our enemies defeated, resettlement of Syrian refugees should continue in countries within their region, with the aid and assistance of the United Nations.
